I've been CQ

Here's a block I'm currently making for my sister. I'm just getting started on it. I'll do all my seams before adding any beads, do-dads or other pretties. I just like to do it like that even if I end up covering them with other things I like to have all the seams worked so if one peeks through it has been worked. My theory is you can never have too many stitches on a CQ block!Chance made us sisters, hearts made us friends! The theme here is a Garden Tea Party.I think it's a good theme because I could sit and talk to her all day. I have sew many ideas for this block. I think she's gonna love it when I get it done. I'll post my progress as I go along. It's rather large, so I had to turn the top up a bit to fit it on the swing for a pic. My camera doesn't take pics indoors very well. Oh and the green tatted piece is a first for me, although it is far from perfect, it is special to me and adding NickiLee gorgeous dyed laces to it made it look tons better.

I've also been doing some CQ work on some blocks in the CQRR swap NickiLee is hosting on the HGTV message board. Such Fun :)
My other news that's got me so excited is I've got my plane ticket for my trip to Ohio in June. A few of us are having a sort of mini retreat/vacation and I know we're going to have the most wonderful time. I can't hardly wait!

  1. Hi Donna! Thanks for leaving the note on my blog. Maybe soon we both will get our lives back to normal! We bought a newer truck and are 90% packed. Dave wants to leave Pa. on June 3rd, but I'd like to wait another month. We'll see how I feel after this surgery.

I was so looking forward to the Ohio trip, but guess that's out. Doesn't matter...when I have furniture for extra sleeping, I hope you can drive over to see me in San Antonio! We can go shopping and take a boat ride at the river walk! Maybe Kathy would take the trip with you and I hope to get Tammy & Lois to come visit too!

The homespun is not what I expected and I'm a little disappointed in it, but when you are working with blocks that others made, you have to use them even if they aren't what you wanted. But I loved making it and Dave has changed his mind on the asian quilt and wants a homespun star quilt instead...it'll look real "Texas"!

I'll be meeting Tammy before I leave to give her the wool and some items you all can share that I just can't take with me. Dave and I had to agree to give up 50% each of our "stuff" because of the cost of dragging it all with us! I had to give up 50 pounds of fabric to keep my treadle machine...most of that is wool!
