Freemotion machine quilting

I have just finished FMQ on a very large 103x103" quilt. It was too big to fit on my hand quilting frame. I'm so happy with how it turned out. The back is just as nice as the front. It is just a simple meander, but I done this on my home machine. It has small throat space, but this shows it can be done. And the little super model that helped audition it is my sweet grandson Keith.
I still have to do the binding, but was too excited about having this done I could not wait to share the results.

  1. It looks Great! I am not a show stopper quilter. I always do my quilts on my regular machine, sometimes I even do hearts or other designs.

I don't expect them to be perfect. Actually, Some of the quilts done on a longarm feel stiff to me and I would hate that. I like a soft quilt to wrap up in. The nicest feeling is when a quilt is hand quilted. They are just naturally soft for some reason.

  3. You are very brave to take on a quilt this size with a normal machine! I'm impressed. I usually limit myself to nothing larger than lap size. So I'm extremely impressed. Nice job.

  5. What type of machine do you have? I tried on my little Singer, and don't think it's going to work. I may just have to get a different machine...what a shame. :) Your quilt came out wonderful.
